Hero background showing Mama Africa's work in Darfur

Our Programs

We work across various sectors to improve lives and build sustainable communities.

Peace Building

Peace Building

Mama Africa's Peacebuilding Program works to enhance social cohesion and peaceful coexistence through comprehensive initiatives targeting both refugees and host communities in Uganda. The program includes organizing community dialogue sessions, providing psychosocial support to conflict-affected individuals, and economically empowering youth and women to reduce tensions arising from resource competition. Our goal is to transform conflicts into opportunities for collaboration and to build a solid foundation for sustainable stability.

Education

Education

We strive to confront ignorance and illiteracy through comprehensive educational programs targeting all ages: Children: Providing basic education and safe learning environments to protect them from being lost and to build their future. Women: Literacy classes and life skills education to enhance their role in the family and society. Men: Educational and awareness programs that help them develop their abilities and keep up with life’s requirements. Our goal: Knowledge as a weapon for every individual, to ensure an aware society capable of revitalizing Darfur once again.

Food Security

Food Security

Understanding Food Insecurity and Malnutrition Displacement, conflict, and economic instability have left many families without reliable sources of income. As a result, thousands struggle daily to secure enough food to survive. Rising food prices and limited access to markets further worsen the situation. Children and vulnerable groups are especially at risk of malnutrition, which can lead to long-term health complications, weakened immunity, and developmental challenges. For many families, skipping meals or reducing portion sizes has become a coping mechanism. Together, we can change this. Together, we can address this urgent need. By providing nutritious meals and strengthening community support systems, we help families regain stability, improve their health, and rebuild hope for a better future.

Protection

Protection

Community Protection Program in Darfur Protection is the cornerstone of human dignity and safety, especially in the challenging conditions faced by communities in Darfur. Our humanitarian organization provides protection services to all members of the community—women, children, and men—through safe spaces, psychosocial support, and the promotion of fundamental rights. Through our comprehensive programs, beneficiaries are empowered to regain self-confidence, safeguard their rights, and build a safer and more stable future.

Environmental Sanitation and Public Health Improvement Program A clean environment is essential for healthy and dignified living. Through the Environmental Sanitation and Public Health Improvement Program, Mama Africa Organization works to promote safe, clean, and sustainable living conditions for vulnerable communities. The program focuses on improving waste management practices, supporting community clean-up campaigns, promoting proper sanitation behaviors, and distributing essential hygiene materials. It also includes awareness sessions on disease prevention, safe water handling, and environmental protection. By engaging local leaders, volunteers, and families, the organization strengthens community responsibility toward maintaining a healthy environment. This initiative not only reduces health risks but also builds long-term awareness and resilience within the community.
