Livelihoods

Every woman and girl deserves safety, dignity, and the opportunity to build a better future. The Protection and Livelihood Support Project by Mama Africa Organization creates a safe space for women and girls in Al-Fasher, where they receive psychosocial support, practical skills training, and opportunities to generate sustainable income. Through vocational training in detergent production and handicrafts, participants gain the tools they need to rebuild their lives, strengthen their confidence, and become economically independent. This initiative is more than a training program — it is a pathway toward resilience, stability, and hope.

The Challenge

Livelihoods

Understanding the Protection and Economic Crisis
Women and girls in conflict-affected communities face multiple challenges, including displacement, economic instability, limited access to education, and exposure to protection risks. Many have lost their primary sources of income and struggle to provide for their families.

Without access to safe spaces and livelihood opportunities, women and girls are more vulnerable to exploitation, poverty, and social exclusion. Cultural barriers and limited financial resources further restrict their ability to participate in economic activities.

Together, we can change this. The lack of sustainable income not only affects individuals but also impacts entire families and communities, deepening cycles of poverty and dependence.
